Is there anything less fun and less comfortable than shoveling snow and ice in the rain? On second thought, don’t answer that.

We had around 4 delightful inches of snow yesterday afternoon and evening. The kids got to sled down the hill in our yard, and SillyBilly proved he can be a nice brother by pulling Napoleona around on the sled for a while. The snow crystals were so perfect, landing on my black winter gloves and showing off their incredible forms before melting in my breath.

This was all followed late last night by sleet, then freezing rain, and an estimated 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches of rain for today. All falling on top of the snow and ice, running off and melting everywhere.

Our yard could very well flood. We’ll see.

  • I like snow but sleet and freezing rain is horrible! Hey, is that your back garden? It looks like your header! I get nostalgic for UK when I read about snow, but in an ideal universe it would be warm, wouldn’t it?

  • Yep, that’s our yard. The header is too.

I like listening to sleet while snuggled in my bed. Not being out in it! Same with freezing rain: it looks so beautiful when every twig and berry is iced over, but no thanks.

Hope His Lordship is feeling better!!
